How Principal Mrs. Sumitra Mitter has made a perfect learning environment for toddlers

The environment of an elementary school is the most important aspect of the institution. Children are like saplings- they need a caring and happy atmosphere to breathe and grow in. A school should be filled with teachers who are supportive and friendly yet equally disciplinary and sincere. The students should not be enforced with the rules and regulations- rather, they must be taught how these rules can help them flourish in life. The principal of Arun Nursery School, Mrs Sumitra Mitter, makes sure that these aspects are well taken care of in her school. The mission of the school is to help the children “love to learn” so that they enjoy the learning process.

Games And Activities

The teachers of Arun Nursery School make learning fun by using different activities like theme learning, colour games, wet and dry games, etc. Students are not strictly put into the textbook learning process which can often burden them in the long run. For a child to enjoy his time in school, it is important that he feels comfortable with his teachers and other classmates. Mrs Mitter leaves no stone unturned to ensure that the activities are thoroughly enjoyed by the students.

Cultural Programmes

India’s rich culture gives plenty of chances to celebrate and Sumitra Mitter takes every opportunity to indulge the students in the programmes organised by the school team. Students are encouraged to dance, sing, draw, recite poems, etc. so that they can gain confidence by making stage appearances. Independence day, Ganesh Puja, Janmashtami, Holi, Diwali, Durga Puja celebrations, and many other functions are held in the school.

Spiritual Learning

It is the spiritual anchorage that the school has which sets it apart from all other schools in the city and maybe even the country. In keeping with the principles upon which the school was founded, Principal Mrs. Sumitra Mitter and her extremely hardworking team of teachers make every effort towards teaching spirituality to the students. The spiritual growth of a child is very important for him to gain wisdom and harmony at a young age. It nurtures a child’s subconscious mind- making him realise the importance of morals and values in life.

Environmental Education

Taking care of plants and animals around us must also be part of the education one receives in schools because it teaches students the value of sustainability. This is very well understood by Mrs Mitter who teaches the students in her school about the importance of keeping our environment clean by helping them plant trees as one of the activities they partake in. It is important to inculcate this practice in the children so that they grow up to be responsible individuals.

It would not be wrong to say that the principal of Arun Nursery School is setting an example for the rest of the elementary schools on how to create a nurturing and interactive environment for the little children to flourish in.
